I received an injury notification today in the form of two strangers in ACUs. My life from this point on will never be the same, but I will embrace it and defeat all obstacles. I've been surrounded by beautiful Army wife angels all day and my mother and sister-in-law arrive tonight.
I have to see this typed: My husband lost both of his legs. He is otherwise fine and in good health, whatever that means.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers.
Since September 7, 2011, Aaron and I have been adjusting to our new life after he suffered catastrophic injuries while performing Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations in Kandahar, Afghanistan. After three years at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, we have come home to Alabama with our miracle child, AJ, to build a new life near family. This is our journey to creating our "forever home."

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry! How inadequate that phrase is really, but words are so useless in times like these. My cousin-in-law lost both of his legs in Afghanistan & though him, I have met many, MANY wounded veterans. I can say that although life will be bleak for awhile, you will have a great support system to help you guys through this. I am going to send my cousin over to this page so hopefully she can give you a lot of been there, done support.

ReplyDeleteMany thoughts with you and your husband. I'm only a few hours from DC if you need an ear or anything, and want to email me for contact info.
ReplyDeleteI had to reread this to make sure I was reading it correctly. And reading it the second time was just as heart-wrenching as the first.
ReplyDeleteI am SO SORRY that you & your husband are going through this. I can't imagine the difficulty you are facing... If there's anything AT ALL I can do for you both, please let me know. My heart goes out to you.

ReplyDeleteLove you.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about this. You and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers. <3
ReplyDeleteYour husband, you and your family are in my prayers. I can't even fathom how you feel right now. I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow EOD Tech's wife, this made my heart drop. I can't imagine how you feel right now. You're absolutely in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI read your post yesterday and have been trying to think of an appropriate comment ever since. I can't; I don't think there is one. After my neighbor's husband was wounded she told me that the best thing I said to her was, "I really don't know what to say." ...because I don't think there is a sentence that would adequately cover such devastating news. So I guess that's what I'm sending you...along with the certainty that you and your husband are in my prayers. He is fortunate to have such a strong and loving wife as you move forward together.
ReplyDeleteIsaiah 40 : 28-31
ReplyDelete"Have you not known?
Have you not Heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints, nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint."
You can do this & we will keep you all in prayer.
Dear Girl,
ReplyDeleteI will get our prayer warriors going, and there are MANY. We are praying for you, your husband, and your whole family. God help and strengthen you all.
That is... wow. I can't even imagine. I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteI am so incredibly sorry to hear this. My heart nearly stopped. I am keeping you both in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI am so, so sorry. You are both in my thoughts and my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, love. I don't blog anymore, but I heard through the milspouse grapevine and came here to read the news. I'm so sorry that you're going through this... and that he is. Obviously. You are handling yourself pretty damned well, all things considered. I know it's not going to be an easy road from here on out, but I wish for you the least amount of Army bullshit (and stupidity from people in general) possible. I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts.
